The crazy thing about my first book being of Polaroids is that up until 2018 I might have only taken 20 Polaroids the previous 50 years. That sure changed in the Fall of 2018 when a collector of my photography asked me if I ever did Polaroids. He went on to say that he enjoys collecting them as they are "One of a Kind" pieces of art.
With a borrowed Polaroid Spectra camera and a few packs of film I started to experiment doing Polaroids. On November 8th, 2018 model Jillian Ann from Los Angeles came to Monterey. I asked her if she had any issues with me using a Polaroid camera, she didn't and that's how I started making Polaroids after 50 years of photography.
Unlike film photography, here was my art, a finished photograph that developed in about 15 minutes. I loved seeing the images right away...the models loved them, and most importantly, collectors of my photography loved them. Within the year I made over 800 Polaroids, sold 100's, and saved some of the best for this book.
